Silica Anti Corrosive Pigment For Protective Coatings Solvent and Water Based Epoxy Primers
Components: Silica Dioxide pigment through surface treatment.
Pigment AC-80 and Pigment AC-85 are both very efficient corrosion inhibitors in solvent based epoxy primers, while Pigment AC-75 may be used in high performance water based epoxy primers.
Generally, the replacement loading for Pigment AC-80 20 to 60% by weight of zinc phosphate or modified zinc phosphates. Pigment AC-85 should be used at 20 to 40% of the original loading.
In new formulations the recommended loading for good performance in general purpose epoxy primers is 6-7% by weight on the total formulation for Pigment AC-75 and 2.5-3.5% by weight on the total formulation for Pigment AC-75. (assuming a formulation with 50-60% Non Volatiles by Volume).
It should be noted that in epoxy primers it is possible to incorporate Pigment AC-80 and 85 both in the Hardener (part B) and in the epoxy base (part A).
Pigment AC-80 and AC-85 may also be used in both solvent based and water based epoxy primers as cost effective and high performance replacements for standard zinc phosphate on a 1:1 basis.
Common coil coating primer formulations are based on polyester resins heat cured with amino resins with acid catalysts. This is due to the very high throughput speed of coil coating lines where typical residence time at the PMT (Peak Metal Temperature) is 20-35 seconds.
The alkaline nature of SKYSIL grades may occasionally cause formulation instability and slow cure with the acidic catalysts. The use of blocked catalysts are therefore recommended, together with minor formulation modifications. The use of acidic ingredients such as certain organic corrosion inhibitors should be avoided.
Choice of the blocked catalyst is of critical importance for the successful performance of the formulation. They should be tested for performance, paint stability and cure retention after accelerated aging. For blocked Isocyanate systems containing Pigmentan, the use of tin based catalysts is not recommended.
It is easy to use the anti-rust paint which using our pigments by either spraying or brushing.
