In the powder coating formulation design, the storage stability of the powder coating can be improved from the following aspects.
(1) The storage stability of the powder coating is mainly determined by the glass transition temperature of the resin and the curing agent.
Because the resin accounts for a large proportion of the formulation, it plays a more important role. Although the amount of curing agent is relatively small, it has a significant effect on the storage stability of the powder coating, such as TGICPT Effect of 910 curing agent on the storage stability of polyester powder coatings. Therefore, when designing the powder coating formulation, in the case of ensuring the appearance of the coating film, try to select the product with high glass transition temperature of the resin and the curing agent. When the curing agent type cannot be selected, try to select the glass with higher glass transition temperature. Variety to match.
(2) In powder coating formulations.
The mass percentage (volume percent concentration) of the pigments and fillers has a significant effect on the storage stability of the powder coating. The storage stability of the powder coating can be improved by appropriately increasing the mass percentage (volume percent by weight) of the pigment and the filler without affecting the various properties of the coating film.
(3) In the formulation design.
Additives with little or no effect on the glass transition temperature, dry powder flow and storage stability of powder coatings, such as liquid leveling agents, wax-type matting agents and accelerators.
(4) In the powder coating formulation.
The addition method adds a loosening agent which improves the looseness of the powder coating, reduces the angle of repose of the powder coating, makes the powder coating not easy to agglomerate, and improves the storage stability of the powder coating.
(5) In the powder coating manufacturing process.
In addition, a filler such as porous powder quartz having a large specific surface area and a strong hygroscopic ability is added to form a barrier layer between the powder coating particles, thereby reducing the chance of collision and coagulation of the powder coating particles, so that the powder coating does not easily absorb moisture and agglomerate. Improve the storage stability of powder coatings
